November is typically the last month before the snow sticks. This means, if you haven't already, this is your last chance to winterize your lawn and help strengthen it going into the winter, so it will come out of the winter strong. It does so by building up the carbohydrates and develops the root system. November is a cold month, and while the same watering rule applies: "to water deeply and as needed", it will likely not be more than two or three times if at all. While you may not need to mow at all this month, we recommend cutting it longer (2 1/2" - 3") if you do. While most plants cannot grow during these temperatures, its a good idea to apply one final dose of herbicide with your fertilizer (winterization application) to continue to kill the root system of any remaining broad-leaf weeds. This, on top of the freezing temperatures, can be very effective. Contact us and we'll winterize your lawn with fertilizer and herbicide for you! Insects have gone into hibernation and will not be out damaging lawns. Disease and fungus are much more common during warm, humid temperatures, so you should not see any disease damage in your lawn. |
